A decisive factor for the success of our family business are our highly qualified employees. Many of them have been with us for more than 10, 15, 20 or even 30 years.
Our organisational and management structure offers freedom for independent thinking and action. Individual knowledge, creativity, the courage to come up with unconventional ideas and many years of practical experience enable joint decisions based on teamwork - such as on important future topics like e-mobility, intelligent packaging, sustainability in film production and the circular economy.
Social commitment is very important to us. It is therefore a matter for us that employees who, for example, volunteer with blue-light organisations, are released from work during an operation. Many colleagues are members of the volunteer fire brigade or the mountain rescue service.
We also support regional clubs and organisations with financial donations. In this way, we have been able to buy many sets of jerseys, purchase new sports equipment or support club festivals.
We are also involved on a supra-regional level. For example, as part of our group-wide sustainability initiative "Yes, we care", which was launched in 2017, we support selected aid organisations every year with donations that are concerned with waste avoidance, collecting and recycling. Among the organisations supported so far are the "ASASE Foundation", which collects waste in the heavily plastic-polluted Ghanaian capital Accra and recycles it into everyday objects and the organisation "Buy Food with Plastic". The latter enables people in India, Nicaragua and Ghana to pay for hot meals with plastic bottles.
Chiemgau - the region in which we as a company are based - is very close to our hearts. That is why it is a matter for us to get involved locally and to take on regional responsibility. At the beginning of the Corona pandemic, when it was difficult to procure protective masks, disinfectants and other protective equipment, we set up a supply chain with the help of our Chinese subsidiary, Brückner Group China. In this way, we were able to support the district of Traunstein with protective masks several times. In total, more than 80,000 masks were handed over to the district. In addition, several litres of disinfectant and hundreds of disposable gloves were handed out. The materials went to nursing homes, hospitals and registered doctors. Various organisations such as the local fire brigades were also supported with donations of masks.
In general, we attach great importance to regionality: many suppliers for our film stretching facilities come directly from the region around our Siegsdorf site. Our canteen obtains goods such as fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, pastries and drinks from regional businesses. We also work mainly with local partners when it comes to promotional gifts or agencies.
We are represented by a Brückner team at numerous sporting events in the region. To name just a few examples: Chiemgau Team Trophy, Hochfellnberg Run, Wings for life World Run as well as various other runs and team competitions. On the one hand, this promotes a feeling of togetherness within the company, and on the other hand, it also allows us to exchange ideas with other regional companies - in a very uncomplicated way.
In addition to our social working environment and the company kindergarten, much value is placed on Team-Spirit and cohesion at Brückner Maschinenbau.
We value and respect togetherness outside of work: whether it is during sports activities such as the joint running group, an after-work beer on the construction site or our "sundowner" after-work events.
This is where the flexible working hours model comes in handy: for example, in the winter months, it makes it possible to move the sports activities to an extended lunch break in order to take advantage of the limited daylight anyway.
The real highlights each year are the Christmas party and the summer festival at the Siegsdorf site. The latter is planned and organized independently by the trainees. Both events are fixed dates in the calendars of all employees.
We stand by our social responsibility - whether regionally or internationally. As part of our "Yes, we care" initiative launched in 2017, we support non-profit organisations every year that make a sustainable contribution to recycling and the circular economy around the world. We are currently supporting the ASASE Foundation, which collects waste in the heavily plastic-polluted Ghanaian capital Accra and recycles it into consumer goods, and Buy Food with Plastic. In certain regions of India, Nicaragua and Ghana, it pursues the idea of using collected plastic bottles to pay for hot meals.
Our sustainability efforts can also be verified. For example, our company Kiefel was independently audited in 2021 and awarded the EcoVadis sustainability certification in the form of a silver medal. This puts the company in the top 25% of all companies audited by EcoVadis and even in the top 10% in the industry. In the same year, Kiefel also made it to the 82 finalists for the German Sustainability Award in the "Design" category. Out of an original field of more than 1,000 applicants, making it to the final alone is a further accolade for the multifaceted efforts in the Brückner Group.
The commitment of each and every one of our employees is at least as important. Thus, we appreciate and support every voluntary activity - be it in the volunteer fire brigade or the mountain rescue service. In the event of a mission, for example, they are released from work.
We also support clubs and organisations from the regions of our locations with financial donations and have already been able to help them with new jerseys, sports equipment or a social club party.
A good working atmosphere, cohesion in all order phases and a tangible "Brückner spirit" are important to us and set us apart. This is also reflected in the working conditions at Brückner Maschinenbau.
Monetary & social benefits
Performance-related remuneration is one of our top priorities as an employer. In addition to a progressive in-house remuneration system, we offer a wide range of voluntary social benefits:
Working hours
At Brückner, working hours can be flexibly arranged due to generous working time regulations. There are no fixed core working hours; we rely on coordination within the team and with the supervisor.
In order to reconcile work and family life in the best possible way, we also allow our employees to work in home office, provided the job allows it and this has been agreed with their supervisor.
In addition to a flexible time account, Brückner also has an insolvency-protected so-called "KOAZ" account, which can be filled with up to 1,000 hours of overtime (e.g. from construction site assignments) depending on the department. There is also the possibility of setting up a lifetime working time account. Overtime/overtime or salary components can be paid into this account and used for a sabbatical, extended parental and family leave or early retirement. Payment is also possible at any time.
Time for health
The health of our employees is very important to us. That is why we offer numerous measures for workplace health promotion. For example, the company doctor and the occupational safety team take care of all questions, concerns and issues from the workforce. Futhermore there are numerous on-site offers, such as a running club, gymnastics, football and tennis.
With our "Employee Assistance Programe", we also offer comprehensive support in a professional as well as private context. The programme consists of two components: a round-the-clock telephone consultation and individual counselling in personal conversations.
Height-adjustable desks are available to all employees for ergonomic work. The employer also financially subsidises the purchase of VDU glasses.
Days off for certain occasions
In some situations in life, you need a little more time than usual. Here we support our employees with special leave and paid time off. This applies, for example, to one's own marriage or the birth of one's own child as well as deaths in the immediate family. We also give our employees time off for voluntary work (e.g. volunteer fire brigade, THW or mountain rescue).
Stagnation and boredom are alien to us. Through numerous training and further education opportunities, we enable our employees to develop individually and to go their own way.
As the world market leader for film stretching lines, we have a lot to do and a lot to learn. We develop, design and build innovative high-tech lines for customers all over the world. Our trainees can lend a hand directly. Because we want them to become so good that we are happy to keep them with us at the end of their training!
Apprenticeships:
The closing date for applications is 30 September for the start of training in the following year.
Our further training offer includes a comprehensive catalogue of courses, workshops and lectures on various occasions and for the most diverse target groups. Whether on general topics, such as presentation techniques or stress management, or on leadership and specialist topics, there is something suitable for everyone. We also offer numerous seminars and training courses in the field of health or on topics such as work-life balance. Language courses are also offered. Outside of the wide-ranging training catalogue, we also support the individual, customised training of our colleagues.
With the e-library "Bookboon" as well as Springer Professional, the specialist library with books, journals and online articles on various subject areas, all employees have a wide range of reference material at their disposal - 24/7.
The Brückner company kindergarten at the Siegsdorf site has been in existence for almost 30 years. It originated from the basic attitude of the owner to offer his employees the best possible social environment: Family and work should be seen as equal.
The kindergarten enables the employees, especially the mothers among them, to return to work quickly and carefree without having to cut back on the care of their offspring. Parents employed at Brückner thus also have the opportunity to see their children more often.
