Brückner's SimTrain simulation tool offers a groundbreaking approach to operator training
We are excited to announce the successful completion of our first Digital Twin Classroom training at Brueckner Group USA, held in collaboration with our esteemed customer TC Transcontinental. This innovative training session represents a significant milestone in our commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance operational efficiency and operator competence.
The Digital Twin technology offers a groundbreaking approach to operator training. Unlike traditional training methods, which are often conducted on-site shortly before startup and under high-pressure conditions, the Digital Twin allows for comprehensive and risk-free training. This simulation tool called Brueckner SimTrain replicates the behavior of the actual production line, enabling operators to familiarize themselves with the system without the stress of potential production downtime or material waste.
During the training, operators were able to engage with the WinCC OA system, learning to navigate interlocks, alarms, events, trends, and the startup process. They also practiced identifying and solving problems, operating the line, and using the Operating Point Assistant. By simulating critical situations such as film breaks, operators were able to develop the confidence and quick decision-making skills required to manage these events effectively. This approach ensures that even rare and complex scenarios can be mastered without the risk of costly production interruptions.
The training took place in a classroom setting at Brueckner Group USA in Dover NH with our experienced Brueckner process and software engineers, allowing for systematic learning with the benefit of repetition. Operators could practice all functionalities of the system in a safe environment, free from the risks and costs associated with real production. This method is akin to pilots training on flight simulators, ensuring thorough preparation for any real-world scenario.
Sebastian Lange, VP of the Film Division at Brueckner Group USA, commented on the success of the training: "The Digital Twin Classroom training is a game-changer for our industry. It not only equips operators with the necessary skills and confidence but also significantly reduces the risks and costs associated with on-site training. We are proud to collaborate with TC Transcontinental on this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our customer’s operations."
This successful training marks the beginning of a new era in operator training and efficiency at Brueckner. We are committed to continuing our innovation and excellence in the field, ensuring our customers receive the best possible support and expertise.
